St. John's Family Camp, dedicated to enriching the lives of Orthodox families, welcomes you to a serene natural haven, where the timeless teachings of our faith intertwine with the joy of shared experiences.
This year, we are turning our hearts toward the vital connection between the Chalice and our daily lives. Our theme, “Community Through Communion,” explores how the Eucharist strengthens our life within the Church and our love within the home. We will look at our duties to one another and how an authentic Orthodox life naturally flows into the path of salvation.
Meet Our Guest Speaker: Dr. Nicole Roccas
Nicole Lyon Roccas, PhD, is an author, certified trauma-informed coach, and speaker whose work explores the intersection of Orthodox Christian spirituality, trauma healing, and the inner life. She is the author of several books, including Time and Despondency: Regaining the Present in Faith and Life (Ancient Faith Publishing), host of the former Time Eternal podcast for Ancient Faith Radio, and more recently cohost of The Re-Creation Podcast, which examines trauma, faith, and wholeness from an Orthodox Christian perspective.
Nicole holds a PhD in History from the University of Cincinnati and brings both theological depth, therapeutic training, and a bit of wry humor to her writing and speaking. She has taught history, theology, and writing at the college level. She is currently coauthoring a book with Eleni Opperwall on an Orthodox theology of trauma. Based in Southern Ontario, she speaks internationally on trauma, spiritual formation, time, attention, and the path toward healing and renewed presence.
